BREAKING: Tom Goldstein Arrested AGAIN. Feds Claim SCOTUSblog Founder Made Secret Crypto Transactions – Above the Law

When
I

wrote
earlier
today

that
government
attorneys
suspected
Tom
Goldstein,
co-founder
of
SCOTUSblog
and
Supreme
Court
litigator,
was
lying
about
his
financial
condition,
I
didn’t
expect
this
would
happen.
Goldstein
was
arrested
again
today
for
violating
the
terms
of
his
pretrial
release.

According

to
reporting
by

Law360,
the
government
alleges
since
Goldstein’s
release
he’s
made
millions
of
dollars
worth
of
crypto
transactions,
a
fact
he
kept
hidden.
As
per
government
filings,
Goldstein
“fail[ed]
to
disclose
the
existence
of
two
cryptocurrency
wallets
through
which
he
received
over
$8
million
in
cryptocurrency
and
sent
more
than
$6
million
of
cryptocurrency
over
the
last
five
days.”

“Defendant’s
conduct
demonstrates
that
he
is
a
serious
risk
of
flight,
that
he
cannot
abide
by
the
conditions
of
release,
and
that
he
has
lied
to
this
court
and
pretrial
services.
A
rebuttable
presumption
that
defendant
is
a
danger
to
the
community
now
applies,
and
defendant’s
conditions
of
release
should
be
revoked,”
the
filing
stated.

Goldstein
is
currently
awaiting
a
bail
review
hearing.

Goldstein
was
first

arrested
January
16th
.
He
faces
a
22-count
indictment
alleging
his
side
career
as
a
high-stakes
poker
player
fueled
crimes
of
tax
evasion
and
financial
fraud.
His
release
was
initially
secured
by
his
residence,
but
Goldstein
is
seeking
to
use
other
properties
as
collateral,
claiming
he
needs
the
assets
in
his
marital
home
to
fund
his
defense.

Prosecutors
opposed
that
motion,
claiming
Goldstein
posed
a
“significant”
flight
risk.
I
guess
now
we
know
why
the
government
thinks
that.
